It was ‘sink or swim’ for our survival craft training data buoy which was literally ‘thrown in at the deep end’ of the Jovellanos Maritime Safety Training Centre’s outdoor wave tank facility where it successfully survived stability trials and completed communication tests. Our thanks go to our AT-VIRTUAL project partner’s generously facilitating this test, and congratulations to Pibico, our appointed consults, for achieving this milestone.
Our firefighter training project also passed a milestone this week when the project’s new stewards, the Irish Naval Service, met with Tralee-based Virtual Tours Media for the first time and successfully negotiated a work plan to cater for their specific training needs. NMCI/MTU believes that successful outcomes for this project could pave the way for future collaborations between the INS, MTU and local companies to develop Extended-Reality learning aids, so hope to look back on this day not only as the kick-off point for our project, but also as the beginning of a research journey kick-started by AT-VIRTUAL
